australia motorcycle sales
Is it possible to buy a working motorcycle for less than $500 in Australia?

I want to buy a motorcycle purely to learn to ride, not for commuting or week end bashes or anything, and I don’t want to spend lots of money.
It can be really bad, just as long as it goes, and has gears.
Is it possible to find a bike this cheap for sale in Australia, and if so, where can I find a website/contact details of a person who will sell it to me?

$500 is not a lot to spend. Add an extra $1500 and you will have much better chances to by a reasonable good bike.
You haven’t specified weather you are looking for a sport bike or a motocross type bike. If you are looking for a sport bike a Kawasaki zzr or gpx might be something to consider.

I would say that you may be able to buy a bike for $500 in very poor working conditions and if for example the engine or gear box dies it may cost you twice as much to fix (which would not be worth).

My advice is try and save a little bit more money and try and buy the best that is available in terms of mechanical condition.

I leave in WA so the Quokka or the Trading Post is usually good to check, not sure in the other states.

Hope this helps.
