us motorcycle manufacturers

Is Buell’s NEW 1125R American built? VTwin motor is Rotax made by Austrians using a Canadian (BRC) design?
The new 2008 Buell will be competing against established world-class V-Twins now as it becomes the first ‘American’ motorcycle manufacturer whose success will depend on a power from fuel injection, electronic chip, liquid cooling, and European testing and standards. So will US riders trade away the KTM’s. Ducati’s, Aprilia’s etc, etc to buy into a US made hybrid saddle?
Buell seems to be trying extremly hard to shake some sort of image it has been assigned by creating the 1125R, mechanically it has done a lot to convince me ( a still in grief Indian mourner and long time H-D skeptic) to at least take a serious look at Mr. Buell’s team effort. I’m ready to write the check even if I’m still riding and paying for 2 other touring machines.
I would absolutely ride one. Speaking with experience in regards to buells and actually know what the hell i’m talking about (unlike some asshole that made the second response). Some find them ugly. Some find them too small. However, everyone i know that’s ever ridden one has been impressed with the power and everyone i know that owns one (including myself) rave about the handling and general performance of the bike. I rode with about 25 japanese sportbikes a few days ago and couldn’t believe how slow they were all going in the corners, because i normally take corners much faster on my buell (because it handles superbly).
Also, Buell bikes are made by Buell NOT harley davidson (hd ownes 51% of buell though). Erick Buell worked as an engineer for HD and is a former AMA racer, but is the cheif engineer and chairman for buell now. The only HD part they have used is the sportster engine block. Everything else is buell specific.
The new 1125R uses NO HD parts. Rotax also unofficially made engines for aprilia at one point. I’ve read a lot of magezine articles and talked to people in the past that said they wouldn’t buy a buell unless they started using a better engine. Well, they are using a better engine now, so if people were serious then i wouldn’t be surprised if the 1125R becomes a popular bike. The HD dealer i go to hasn’t been able to order them nearly fast enough to even keep them on the floor. That’s the best way i know to answer your question.
