safety motorcycle courses

If I take the motorcycle course, do I still need to take the driving test at the DMV?
I live in California.
Once you go From the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Rider course, most states waive the riding skills test, but you still must pass the written test. California has their own program bike you can take to get your motorcycle license (page 4 of link below). Good luck and Ride Safe
